About the Opportunity Reporting to the Head of Technical Governance and Assurance, the Assurance Engineer is accountable for executing engineering assurance activities in line with relevant standards and legislation, and ASC documentation, to ensure safety and productivity at ASC. This work will support Australia’s nuclear and conventional submarines across sustainment and type-extension programs. The role will perform activities strongly aligned with ASC’s Strategy and directly assists ASC to meet relevant contractual deliverables. The Assurance Engineer will need to build strong stakeholder relationships and use them to informally influence positive change across the organisation. They will work as part of a team to deliver attainable yet challenging performance targets across several ASC locations. This position will require some travel to work with stakeholders, conduct physical assurance activities and deliver investigations. Your work will allow ASC to minimise threats and maximise opportunities at ASC’s locations, including assurance on both submarine and supporting infrastructure. This unique opportunity allows a strategic perspective of the entire business and needs to consider a wide range of longer-term issues, opportunities, and risks to ensure ongoing business success. This role will support several key external relationships, such as the government and various regulators, as well as the associated technical regulations and compliance requirements. This is a full-time opportunity based at our Osborne site in SA. Responsibilities Co-develop and execute the technical assurance plan, with your Leadership Team, aligned to overall business strategy. Identify internal and external stakeholder regulations and requirements that impact the enterprise, monitoring them for ongoing change. Ensure that areas of responsibility identify and implement best practices and drive continuous improvement. Ensure alignment and coordination across teams and facilitate collaboration where necessary. Build and maintain relationships with key personnel to assist in gaining a greater understanding of the technical assurance needs and how to assist in the achievement of corporate goals. Identify potential technical assurance risks to the enterprise and develop mitigation strategies for these, including developing programs and initiatives which address concerns proactively. Effectively manage, track, and report as necessary to ensure optimised allocation of effort across Technical Governance and Assurance. Provide advice to programs and corporate areas, and clear articulation of technical frameworks and policies, ensuring that these are clearly articulated, understood, and executed. About you Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or equivalent experience 10+ years’ working in engineering roles within high-risk and regulated industries Experience conducting engineering and/or technical assurance in high-risk environments Demonstrated experience identifying technical assurance risks and capacity to develop mitigation strategies Familiarity building relationships with a broad range of stakeholders to deliver optimised engineering assurance outcomes Strong understanding of standards and regulatory frameworks and the ability to apply them practically in complex, multi-faceted organisations Exposure to risk mitigation on regulated infrastructure (i.e. pressure vessels, lifting equipment, electrical, fire systems) Eligibility This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
