Neptune Pacific Direct Line (NPDL) is experiencing a period of significant transformation. Formed in 2020, Neptune Pacific Line acquired Pacific Direct Line, bringing together two of the South Pacific’s top shipping and logistics companies to support the full supply chain of our customers in the region. NPDL is part of The Wonderful Company headquartered in the USA (including Fiji Water). NPDL operates 11 containerships, moving +240k TEU between AU, NZ and the Pacific Islands, as well as the USA. We have strong partnerships with PIL, CMA, MSK and other lines, moving cargo across 25 customer destinations in 16 countries. Job Description Step into a dynamic leadership role as the Australia (AU) Operations Manager, where you'll take charge of all Ports and Equipment operations across the country! Reporting directly to the Australian Country Manager, with strategic oversight from Group Equipment and Group Operations Managers, you'll be at the forefront of driving efficiency and innovation. You'll be responsible for seamless vessel operations across AU ports, ensuring swift dispatch along the Australian coast and optimizing end-to-end logistics to enhance vessel turnaround times. Keeping NPDL vessels moving efficiently means guaranteeing the right supply of empty containers to meet customer demand. Beyond day-to-day operations, you'll play a pivotal role in driving continuous improvement, tackling logistics challenges head-on, and implementing sustainable solutions to optimize port operations and equipment supply. What You’ll Be Doing Port Operations Ensure fast and efficient vessel turnaround at all AU ports by optimizing port operations and eliminating delays. Own and manage key port relationships, including Stevedoring, Tugs, and Husbandry services, to guarantee seamless vessel operations. Collaborate with NPDL teams to ensure timely, cost-efficient operations, minimizing schedule disruptions while maintaining safety and performance standards. Oversee requisitions and ensure purchase orders (POs) are processed correctly for smooth vendor payments. Equipment Management Guarantee a steady and cost-effective supply of containers to meet Sales Bookings across AU geographies. Manage relationships with equipment suppliers, depots, leasing companies, and regulators, ensuring seamless coordination. Work closely with internal teams to optimize equipment supply and performance, aligned with Group directives. Improve cost efficiency through data-driven reviews, ensuring accurate reconciliation of container records. Lead contract negotiations and commercial discussions with key suppliers, ensuring competitive rates and service excellence. Monitor supplier performance, contracts, and financials, addressing any disputes or outstanding commercial matters proactively. Ensure clear communication of supplier rate changes across all NPDL stakeholders. Drive cost optimization by implementing the most efficient and cost-effective solutions across all areas of responsibility. Ensure accurate cost allocation to support performance tracking and continuous improvement initiatives. Oversee timely and precise processing of supplier costs, maintaining financial accuracy and efficiency. Qualifications What You’ll Bring to the Table: 10+ years of experience in shipping and logistics, with strong expertise in ports and supply chain operations. Vessel planning and voyage management experience—a definite plus! A safety champion, committed to fostering a strong safety culture and leading by example. Integrity-driven leadership, ensuring proper controls, compliance, and ethical decision-making. A results-oriented mindset, thriving under pressure and embracing challenges head-on. A proactive, hands-on approach, anticipating issues and tackling them before they escalate. Curiosity, initiative, and attention to detail, with a keen eye for accuracy and efficiency. Strong administrative skills, including the ability to read and reconcile container stock reports. This is a full-time permanent role based in Sydney.
