Australia/New Zealand: Associate Public Affairs Manager The Communication and Publishing Department (CPD) is seeking to appoint an Associate Public Affairs Manager for the Pacific Area Office. This is a permanent full-time position based in either Auckland, Sydney, or Melbourne, reporting to the Area Public Affairs Manager. The core mission of Church Communication is to build strategic relationships with opinion leaders who influence the reputation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. These relationships can significantly impact the Church's mission, either positively or negatively. The role involves providing valuable information, insights, and perspectives by identifying challenges and opportunities facing the Church, assisting Church leaders in making informed decisions, anticipating the impact of these decisions on various audiences, and communicating effectively to build strong relationships and solve problems. Responsibilities Provide strategic and operational support to the Public Affairs Manager in addressing the public affairs needs of the Church in the Pacific Area. Establish and maintain relationships with government officials, news media professionals, faith and other community leaders. Write and edit articles and posts for Church channels; and other strategic communications as assigned. Support Church communication councils in stakes, coordinating councils, and countries. Keep up to date on news and current affairs across the Pacific Area. Support Church leader outreach. Organize public affairs events. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or a similar discipline. Seven years’ experience working in news media or in one of the following fields: communications; English teaching; public relations or public affairs; or marketing. Skills and experience in strategic communications, writing, editing, public relations, and public affairs would be an advantage. Strategic thinking and the ability to foster collaboration by cultivating and developing relationships. Good organization skills in managing concurrent assignments. Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
