Job Title: Business Intelligence (BI) Test Manager Location: Sydney (Hybrid) Job Type: Permanent Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced BI Test Manager to join our team in Sydney. This is a permanent position with a hybrid work arrangement that offers flexibility between remote and in-office work. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the testing of BI solutions and ensuring that the business intelligence systems meet the highest standards of quality and performance. You will lead a team of testers, work closely with business stakeholders, and ensure the delivery of reliable, scalable, and accurate BI systems that drive decision-making. Key Responsibilities: Test Management: Lead and manage the BI testing team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the successful execution of testing activities. Develop and implement the testing strategy, test plans, and test cases for BI applications and data systems. Ensure effective test execution and coordinate test schedules to meet project timelines and milestones. Collaboration with Stakeholders: Collaborate with business analysts, developers, data engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure BI solutions meet the required functional and non-functional specifications. Ensure alignment between business requirements and testing activities to verify the accuracy, quality, and completeness of BI solutions. BI Solution Testing: Oversee the testing of various BI components, including ETL (Extract, Transform, Load), data warehousing, reporting, and dashboard applications. Ensure the testing of both functional and non-functional aspects of BI solutions, including data accuracy, performance, and integration with other systems. Identify, track, and report defects and issues, working closely with the development team to ensure timely resolution. Automation and Efficiency: Lead efforts to implement test automation where possible to improve efficiency and repeatability of tests. Establish and manage a robust testing process, leveraging BI testing tools and techniques to optimize testing coverage. Evaluate and recommend improvements to testing processes, tools, and techniques to enhance the quality and efficiency of BI testing. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to ensure the team’s approach aligns with the latest testing methodologies. Reporting and Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of test cases, results, and defect logs. Provide regular status reports to senior management, highlighting testing progress, challenges, and risks. Required Skills & Qualifications: Experience in BI Testing: Proven experience as a BI Test Manager or in a senior BI testing role, with extensive experience in managing the testing of BI solutions, including data warehousing, reporting, and dashboards. Strong Knowledge of BI Tools: Familiarity with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or other reporting/dashboard tools. Leadership and Team Management: Strong leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring a team of testers. Testing Methodologies: Strong knowledge of software testing principles, methodologies, and best practices. Technical Skills: Understanding of database technologies (SQL, relational databases) and the ability to validate data accuracy and integrity. Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues and find solutions to complex testing challenges. Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify defects and inconsistencies in large datasets and reports. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Cloud BI solutions (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). Knowledge of Big Data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, etc.) is a plus. Experience with performance and load testing tools for BI solutions. Relevant certifications in testing or BI, such as ISTQB or Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate.
