Add expected salary to your profile for insights Job Opportunity: Building Surveyor / Compliance Officer Position Purpose: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join our team in ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of the community. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, including: Enforcing development and building legislation, ensuring alignment with the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979 , Local Government Act 1993 , Swimming Pools Act 1992 , and the Building Code of Australia (BCA) . Maintaining Council records in accordance with compliance requirements and timelines. Ensuring buildings are equipped with appropriate fire safety measures. Providing Principal Certifying services and undertaking Part 6 Certificate Applications as a Certifying Authority. Performing any other related duties as required by the Team Leader or Manager. Essential Criteria: Tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying or a recognised qualification for Building Surveyors by Fair Trading NSW (or near completion). Strong knowledge and understanding of building and planning legislation. Demonstrated experience in managing investigations and enforcement actions. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Commitment to providing excellent customer service. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Current Class C drivers license . A strong understanding of WHS and EEO principles. Desirable Criteria: Registered Certifier with a minimum accreditation of Building Inspector under the "Building and Development Certifiers Regulation 2020". Practical experience in a similar role as a Building Surveyor/Compliance Officer. Experience in assessing and determining certificates under Part 4 and 6 of the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act . Experience in Local Court and/or Land & Environmental Court proceedings.
