You will also manage the Legal Department with 2 direct reports. Key responsibilities include: Legal Provide effective and timely legal advice to all business units by analysing legislative & regulatory requirements Providing legal advice in relation to contract reviews, lease reviews, industrial action matters, litigation management and other general in-house duties First line oversight and sign-off of business proposals, internal customer communications, advertising material, terms and conditions and policies Act as Customer Advocate representing customer interests to drive improvements in customer experience and assist in resolving disputes efficiently Company Secretary Facilitate meetings of the Board, Board committees and other meetings with logistics, agendas, minutes and follow-up in the most professional manner with the utmost confidentiality Provide advice to the Chairman, Board and CEO regarding corporate governance matters Ensure that the Board complies with the Bank’s Corporate Governance Policy and other relevant policies Raise Directors and Business unit awareness of the obligations arising from current and future legal requirements About You We are seeking someone who has the following qualifications, skills and experience: Tertiary qualification in law and the ability to hold an unrestricted solicitor practising certificate Previous experience in a similar in-house legal role, preferably in the finance and banking sector Demonstrated understanding of regulatory requirements applying to the financial services sector Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach across various departments and stakeholders Sounds like you?
