IBN is the Trustee for the Mining Area C (MAC) Agreement between BHP Billiton Pty Ltd and the IBN Claim Group – the Yinhawangka, Banyjima and Nyiyaparli people of the Pilbara. IBN’s head office is in South Hedland, Western Australia, approximately 350 kilometres north of the Mining Area C Project and we also have offices in Perth, Tom Price and Karratha. The Role: The Business Analyst will play a crucial role in identifying and evaluating commercial and business opportunities, conducting in-depth research, and preparing compelling government grant applications. This position will also support program and project assessment, provide critical insights for business case development, and lead the analysis of merger and acquisition (M&A) opportunities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, exceptional writing skills, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable strategies. Key Responsibilities include but not limited to: Commercial & Business Opportunity Assessment Analyse and evaluate new and existing commercial opportunities. Conduct market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive landscapes. Develop financial models to assess the viability and profitability of business opportunities. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic decision-making. Grant Research & Writing Research and identify government grants and funding opportunities relevant to the organisation. Write and prepare high-quality grant proposals, ensuring alignment with funding guidelines and organisational objectives. Liaise with internal stakeholders to gather necessary information for grant submissions. Track and monitor grant applications, ensuring timely follow-up and compliance with reporting requirements. Program & Project Assessment Support the evaluation and assessment of ongoing and proposed programs and projects. Develop performance metrics and KPIs to measure project success and alignment with strategic goals. Prepare detailed reports and presentations on program/project status, risks, and recommendations. Business Case Development Assist in the preparation of comprehensive business cases for new projects, initiatives, or investments. Gather and analyse data to support business case arguments, including financial analysis, risk assessment, and market research. Work closely with senior management to present business cases and secure approvals. Conduct thorough assessments of potential M&A opportunities, including financial due diligence, valuation, and risk analysis. Analyse target company financials, market position, and strategic fit with the organization. Collaborate with legal, finance, and executive teams to support the negotiation and execution of M&A deals. Prepare detailed reports and presentations on M&A opportunities, including recommendations and potential synergies. Other Contribute to the development and improvement of WHS and risk management initiatives and practices in the workplace. Other administrative tasks and duties as required. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Economics, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in business analysis, commercial assessment, or a related role. Proven experience in grant writing and securing government funding. Strong analytical and financial modelling skills. Experience in merger and acquisition analysis, including due diligence and valuation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen attention to detail. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and relevant business analysis tools. National Police Clearance, or willingness to obtain. Preferred Skills: Experience in a commercial or government environment. Knowledge of government grant processes and funding landscapes. Project management experience is a plus. Familiarity with legal and regulatory aspects of M&A transactions. Personal Attributes: Strong problem-solving abilities with a strategic mindset. Highly organised and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously. Proactive, with a demonstrated ability to take initiative and drive results.
