Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst (Benefits and Finance) to review and analyse the organisation’s business intentions, services, processes, and information needs to identify opportunities for improvement in large and complex programs and projects within the organisation.The role is responsible for implementing and managing financial strategies, ensuring cost efficiency, and driving financial accountability and benefits across the organisation.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (Roles the Candidate will perform) Enhance corporate and business systems by aligning processes with technical development and business life cycles, leveraging a strong understanding of financial principles and practices, particularly in the context of ICT services. Conduct detailed commercial analysis to support strategic decision-making, evaluating financial performance, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights to drive business growth. Analyse and consolidate information to create business cases that support business objectives and provide effective ICT support. Design data collection and reporting tools, and apply these tools, processes and benchmarking. Develop and implement financial management practices to optimise digital project expenditures. Gather and document user requirements through interviews, document analysis, workshops, surveys, use cases, scenarios, and workflow analysis, ensuring comprehensive and accurate documentation. Lead the design, documentation, and development of financial requirements and functional specifications using financial models and analysis tools, ensuring alignment with business needs and financial strategies. Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and strategic objectives. Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and key customers to monitor, analyse, and report project cost usage. SELECTION CRITERIA (To be successful in this role, the candidate will have) Demonstrated superior communication (oral and written) with advanced stakeholder and SMEs engagement skills. Proven experience conducting workshops with business and technical SMEs, eliciting technical and business requirements supporting business needs. Demonstrated strong understanding of financial principles and practices, particularly in the context of ICT services. Experience with the full lifecycle of benefits management and realisation, working with teams to design and develop benefits realisation and measurement plans. Proven ability to analyse complex financial data and provide strategic recommendations. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders. Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing financial challenges including the ability to anticipate potential issues, develop innovative solutions, and implement strategies that mitigate risks and enhance financial stability. Minimum of 7 years of experience required. Business Analysis certification such as IIBA or Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) is preferred. Fundamental understanding of Benefits Management Framework e.g. NSW Benefits Management Framework. Extensive experience working as a business analyst across agile and/or waterfall delivery models for major ICT programs and projects.
