United in the pride that comes with welcoming the world at Australia’s premier gateway.Job Description About the role The Business Support Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of the Group Operations Leadership Team (GOLT) and, by extension, supporting the most critical functions of our business. Working directly with the COO and GMs, this role oversees a small team of Assistants, driving efficiency, continuous improvement, and operational excellence to achieve SYD’s strategic goal of becoming Australia’s preferred international gateway.With autonomy to manage the function as they see fit, the Business Support Lead is responsible for optimising workflows, providing high-level administrative support, and ensuring alignment with the organisation’s objectives. From calendar and travel management to financial administration and event coordination, the role acts as the central hub of information and operational support for the GOLT.Key responsibilities include leading a team to deliver prioritised and structured support for key business priorities, streamlining processes, and enabling the leadership team to focus on driving long-term business objectives. Through their contributions, the Business Support Lead will ensure the Group Operations function operates effectively, efficiently, and innovatively.This is a vital role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at balancing competing priorities, and is passionate about fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.In this role, you will have the opportunity to Lead and manage a team of Team Assistants to deliver efficient administrative support to leadership, driving a high-performance culture through development of the team members’ business understanding and capabilities. Effectively manage GOLT calendars, prioritising meetings, appointments, and engagements to align with strategic business goals and ensure optimal use of time. Anticipate potential issues, offering practical solutions to streamline processes, resolve conflicts, and provide effective support to the GOLT team. Develop and implement an operating rhythm for the Business Support function in partnership with stakeholders. Adapt to evolving business needs and ensure smooth transitions during periods of change. What You Will Bring To The Role Demonstrated experience leading a high-performing team within a centralised administrative function, driving output and efficiency through strong leadership and strategic direction. Proven ability to manage complex calendars for senior executives in a fast-paced, matrixed organisation, ensuring alignment with business priorities and strategic goals. A track record of identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance team performance, streamline workflows, and increase operational efficiency. Self-motivated, energetic, and resourceful, with a pragmatic attitude and a focus on finding innovative solutions to challenges while fostering a culture of learning and development. Exceptional ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across teams, business units, and complex stakeholder environments, ensuring alignment and clarity of objectives. Highly proficient in proofing documents, preparing reports, and ensuring accuracy, with a relentless focus on quality and execution.
