Our Opportunity As our new Buyer - Accessories, you will manage, select and develop a range of innovative and relevant products that will enable the department to achieve set sales plans, intake margins, planned markdowns and overall gross profit aligned to the Sportsgirl customer profile. Driving one of our accessories categories including Bags/Hosiery/Softgoods/Belts , your experience in a high SKU count category will support your success in this very fast paced and exciting role. You will be working across both the buying and product development, communicating your creativity and innovation for all these much-loved Sportsgirl accessories to ensure they are first and right on trend. Your passion, agility and strong organisational skills will be on show as will your strong relationship building and influencing abilities. Leading the Buying Assistant in this category, you will work closely in partnership with them and have the opportunity to develop and mentor your BA to inspire high performance and business outcomes. Your day-to-day will include: Buy merchandise ensuring you achieve budgeted sales results, meet gross profit targets and identify growth opportunities Ensure OTB, margins and pricing strategy for department is being achieved Demonstrate an understanding of accessories trends as they relate to the Sportsgirl customer Review and sign off all development and PP samples to ensure they meet Sportsgirl’s quality fit and standards Redesign and interpret overseas products and trends inline with Sportsgirl brand vision Coach and mentor your Buying Assistant Build strong internal and external stakeholder relationships Brief supplier base clearly when requesting samples, and negotiate costs to ensure best price Always be an ambassador for the Sportsgirl brand and maintaining effective relationships internally and externally To be successful in this role, you must have: Fashion/Design/Merchandising diploma or Business/Commerce degree Previous experience as designer, fashion buyer or product developer across jewellery/high SKU count category Understanding of buying and planning principals Strong communication, leadership and mentoring skills Strong organisational skills to manage critical paths, deadlines and lead times Proven direct sourcing experience Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness Demonstrated understanding of financial management including assortment planning and OTB management Solid understanding of the local and international market place Why work for Sportsgirl?
