Casual Youth Housing Support Worker for Specialist Homeless Service Chameleon Regional Housing is seeking CASUAL Youth Workers to join our team. Based in Kippa-Ring 4020, Brisbane QLD. Chameleon House operates under the SCHADS AWARD, with a casual starting rate of $46.00 per hour plus penalties. About Chameleon Chameleon Youth Housing is a not-for-profit community-based organisation that has been operating on the Redcliffe Peninsula for over 35 years. The youth accommodation service is managed by a manager and staffed by qualified youth support workers, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Specialist Homeless Service (SHS) supports young people in safe, secure accommodation to identify and work towards their own goals. Chameleon Housing also provides safe and affordable accommodation on the Redcliffe Peninsula to young parenting families aged 18 to 25 years and Indigenous parenting families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, providing case management and the opportunity to secure supportive and long-term accommodation options. Chameleon Housing provides an opportunity for young people to take control of their lives in a supported strength-based environment. We encourage and support young people and families to assess and reassess their own goals to begin the process of taking charge of their future. About the position Chameleon Housing is looking for Casual Youth Housing Support Workers to join our dynamic team. The shifts will include days, overnights, weekends, and public holidays. Only applicants with this availability need to apply for this position. The successful candidates will report to the Manager to deliver day-to-day care and support to young people and families across our programs, including the Youth Share House and Young Families Program. Additionally, this position will involve conducting outreach in the community supporting young people and families aged 16-25 and providing phone support through QHIP for anyone experiencing or at risk of homelessness. About you The successful candidate will be energetic, adaptive, and creative, with experience working in a residential/housing setting or a similar field, along with the following mandatory requirements: Diploma-level qualifications or higher preferred; relevant experience will also be considered. Demonstrated ability to work with young people and families from all culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. An understanding of strength-based practice, particularly in a residential setting. The ability to work a rotating roster including days, evening sleepover shifts, weekends, and public holidays. Current First Aid and CPR certification. Valid Blue Card (Working with Children). Current unencumbered class āCā Queensland Driver License. Current Police Check. Knowledge of the Child Protection Legislation and Youth Justice Act. Knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act. Knowledge of Queensland Homeless Information Platform (QHIP) and Specialist Homelessness Information Platform (SHIP).
