Summary of Position: The IES Abroad Sydney Center Director is responsible for strategy, management, and operations at the IES Abroad Sydney Center. The Center Director supervises the Center's academic programs and serves as the main point of contact with the Center's partner institutions in Australia. They cultivate a broad range of contacts in Sydney and Australia to benefit the Center and IES Abroad. The Center Director hires and supervises all staff and faculty members for the Sydney Center and is responsible for the health and safety of the Center's students. The Center Director also represents IES Abroad and the IES Abroad Sydney Center at IES Abroad meetings, on visits to colleges and universities in the United States, and in discussions of professional organizations and conferences. Key Accountabilities: Provide pastoral care and academic support to study abroad students studying through the IES Abroad Sydney Center. Assist with orientation programs and educational workshops. Assist with the coordination and supervision of field trips. Provide recruitment and marketing information to IES Abroad Chicago-based staff. Duties: Administration and Program Management: Collaborate with the APAC Dean and AVP for Academic Programs to set measurable goals for the Center each year and evaluate progress toward achieving these goals. Develop and manage the Center's annual budget and periodic forecasts; approve all Center expenditures; review expenditures monthly and meet all financial deadlines. Strategically plan and manage the Sydney Center staff, with appropriate review and input from the APAC Dean and Academic Affairs leadership. Ensure collaboration of the Sydney Center with the IES Abroad Customized Programs Department in Chicago. Set regular office hours and be available to consult with students. Conduct annual performance appraisals of IES Abroad Sydney staff members. Manage administrative matters such as local legal registration issues, payroll providers, and real estate matters as needed. Academic Management: Provide ongoing implementation of IES Abroad quality standards based on the IES Abroad MAP series and IES Abroad policies and protocols. Conduct ongoing evaluations of the Center's academic programs in Australia. Supervise the registration of students in courses in partnership with Head Office staff and Program Coordinator. Communication: Meet regularly via phone or Zoom with the APAC Dean and the Academic Affairs Leadership Team. Provide IES Abroad Chicago and SAF global staff with information about the Center regularly. Outreach, Public Relations, and Marketing: Develop and maintain strong partnerships with local partner universities and institutions. Represent IES Abroad Sydney Center before local and regional Australian authorities and in the local community. Student Life: Coordinate the Program Coordinator to arrange and lead the on-site orientation of students to Sydney and the IES Abroad Center. Ensure the quality of housing for students; source, assess and improve housing options. Emergency Response and Crisis Management: Design, review/revise, and implement local crisis management plans per IES Abroad policy. Respond rapidly to student crises by accessing local resources and coordinating with the IES Abroad Crisis Management Team. Requirements: Advanced degree in a relevant academic discipline. 5 to 10 years of progressively responsible managerial experience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Native/Near-native fluency in English. Preferred: Ph.D. in a relevant discipline. Relevant management experience in a study abroad program. Background check required. #J-18808-Ljbffr
