PSYCHIATRY REGISTRAR Postgraduate Training in Psychiatry August 2025 Intake Psychiatry Training Program for Stage 3 Certificates of Advanced Training in the WA Metropolitan Psychiatry Training Program or the Rural Psychiatry Training Program WA Salary: AMA Trainee Psychiatrist Year 1 – 7 $135,729 - $185,418 pa pro rata IMPORTANT NOTE: This intake is only for WA trainees who are eligible to apply for Certificates of Advanced Training in Psychiatry WA. Applicants are recommended to meet with the relevant Director of Advanced Training before submitting an application. Not all certificates can be completed in both WA zones. Some certificates may require applicants to transfer training zones. The programs are overseen by the Directors of Advanced Training (DOAT’s) and the Branch Training Committee, Western Australia in accordance with the requirements for obtaining a Certificate of Advanced Training of the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible for entry into the Stage 3 Certificates of Advanced Training in Western Australia the applicant must be able to demonstrate all of the following: Current WAMPT or RPTP trainee Completion of Stage 2 training requirements Passed the Multiple Choice Questions examination Passed all other assessments required by the specific subcommittee for Advanced Training for entry into the Certificate and, Full registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Able to satisfy the selection criteria of suitable academic record, employment history and commitment to the training in psychiatry. Clinical competence in both General Medicine and Psychological Medicine. Knowledge and understanding of the mandatory and specific requirements for Certificate of Advanced Training. Demonstration of good interpersonal skills and a high level of oral and written communication skills suitable to the complexity of multidisciplinary work in Psychiatry. Ability to use proficient problem-solving techniques, coping strategies and ability to tolerate and deal effectively with stressful situations. Ability to identify and resolve conflict which may arise in the course of psychiatric work and to work constructively with patients, carers and other professionals including a capacity to use supervision effectively to assist with this process.
