Position Summary Chief Engineer (CENG) Thaiyak and Bay Class The CENG is deployed aboard ABFC Thaiyak and Bay Class Vessel and is a key member of the ship's company. The CENG oversees the Marine Engineering Department on the vessel and is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all the vessel's fitted plant and equipment. In an emergency, the CENG will assume control of the ship's damage control organisation to co-ordinate the whole ship response. The CENG works closely with the Commanding Officer (CO) and will ensure the availability of the vessel's mission critical systems and capabilities. Deputy Engineer (DENG) Cape Class The Deputy Engineer (DENG) deployed aboard ABFC, undertake marine engineering activities under limited supervision in accordance with operational command principles and relative to their level of Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) Certification and risk delegation assigned by their issued ABF Technical Authority (TA). The DENG undertake Marine Engineering tasks in order to assist the CENG. The DENG will be expected to make engineering decisions within the bounds of their delegated ABF TA and may assume responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel's machinery if authorised to do so or in the unexpected absence or incapacitation of senior engineering officers. Our ideal candidate MDSB are seeking applications from professionals who can respond positively to a challenging and high-pressure environment. The programme of the Branch is high profile, with added sensitivity due to the armed nature of the workforce, demanding a high level of training and qualifications as well as liaison with other agencies and ABF Commands. The work you will undertake entails spending substantial time away from home for extended periods usually up to 22 days (Bay Class) and 28 days (Thaiyak and Cape Class) on a Fly In Fly Out roster. A tactical extension may increase deployment days. Mandatory Qualifications CENG Thaiyak and Bay Class Engineer Watchkeeper Certificate of Competency (Marine Order 72 and STCW regulation III/1); and Engineer Class 3 Near Coastal Certificate of Competency (Marine Order 505) Or Engineer Class 3 Near Coastal Certificate of Competency (Marine Order 505). DENG Cape Class Minimum requirements for Engineer Officer and: Engineer Class 3 Near Coastal Certificate of Competency (Marine Order 505) or higher How to apply You are not required to provide a written application for this role.
