Child & Family Support Worker - Aboriginal Identified Position Note: This is an Identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People. Location: Wellington We have Two Positions (1 X Fulltime & 1 X Mat leave cover) Wellington Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (WACHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled health organisation that aims to empower Aboriginal people to take control of their individual, family, and community health and wellbeing needs through our clinical and community programs. About the Role: The Aboriginal Child & Family Worker plays a vital role in improving the resilience of Indigenous families with children aged 0-18. This position is responsible for supporting families in navigating the education system, addressing barriers to enhance their wellbeing, and connecting them with relevant services. The support worker will work closely with the Social & Emotional Wellbeing Team to provide culturally sensitive case management, referrals, and support services to vulnerable families. As a key member of the team, you will develop and implement case plans tailored to the needs of vulnerable children and their families, facilitate referrals, and engage in local events to foster strong, child-friendly communities. Your expertise in identifying and addressing vulnerabilities affecting family wellbeing and children's educational transitions will be essential in this role. You will also implement culturally specific activities promoting identity and community connection, ensuring that services are delivered in a culturally sensitive and holistic manner. Key Duties Develop and implement culturally sensitive case plans. Conduct assessments to identify family needs and goals. Provide ongoing support and referrals to services. Engage in community events to build relationships. Ensure culturally appropriate and holistic service delivery. Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders. Identify and address family vulnerabilities. Comply with workplace policies and report OH&S incidents. Mandatory compliance requirements of the position: A Certificate of Aboriginality Certification III Aboriginal Health Worker (willing to obtain) Previous Experience in Aboriginal Health is Highly Preferable Australian Drivers Licence Working With Children Check Proof of COVID vaccination National Criminal Record Check #J-18808-Ljbffr
