Why this role matters The Salvation Army Family Violence Stream provides a broad range of programs to support women and their children who have experienced domestic, family and sexual violence. Our services provide specialised support to address immediate safety needs and provide casework, referrals, and connection to assist the healing and recovery journey. About the Role: Are you passionate about supporting children and families impacted by family violence? Join The Salvation Army's Family Violence Services (FVS) team as a Children’s Specialist , where you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, child-focused interventions to support infants, children, and their mothers. Your work will help enhance child well-being and ensure that children’s unique risks and needs are addressed with care and expertise. Reporting to the Team Leader, this is a Permanent Part time position based in Inner West and Central Sydney. Salary in accordance with SCHADS Level 5. Due to the nature of this service, to identify as a woman is a genuine occupational qualification for this position under s.31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW). You will successfully: Coordinate and deliver specialist interventions and group work for children and their mothers. Provide therapeutic support to children (ages 0-18) to address family violence-related trauma and promote recovery. Conduct child-specific risk assessments and management, ensuring children’s voices are heard and considered. Support mothers in rebuilding bonds with their children through evidence-based strategies. Provide authoritative direction and secondary consultations to staff on child-focused practices. Advocate for and build the capacity of mainstream services to better identify and respond to children affected by family violence. Collaborate with team members and external service providers to deliver integrated support to children and their families. You will have: Degree qualification in Social Work, Welfare (Social Sciences), Community Development, or a related field. Experience delivering services to children and families who have experienced trauma and family violence. Membership or registration with a relevant accredited peak body (e.g., AASW, APS, ACA). Current Working with Children Check and National Police Record Check. Completion of mandatory training in Code of Conduct, WHS, and Bullying and Harassment. Proven ability to work with children and families from diverse backgrounds with complex support needs. What we offer: NFP salary packaging ($15,900 tax free) plus meals and entertainment benefits.
