The Role We are seeking a skilled and proactive Civil and Rail Safety and Compliance Coordinator to join our national civil and rail team. Based in our Seven Hills Office (NSW) and on client sites across NSW, this pivotal role focuses on fostering a safe, compliant, and well-trained workforce within the civil and rail industry. You will oversee the implementation of safety policies, ensure RIW compliance, coordinate training programs, and engage with regulatory bodies to maintain alignment with industry standards. Acting as a key contact for safety matters, you will provide valuable insights, conduct audits and inspections on-site, and deliver actionable reporting to management. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on civil and rail safety and compliance, while working collaboratively with diverse teams across the industry. Some elements of this role are national and centralised from our Seven Hills Branch. Not in NSW, no problem! We are open to personnel who may wish to work out of our Port Melbourne (VIC) or Burswood (WA) offices also. About you You are a meticulous and proactive professional with a passion for civil and rail safety and compliance. With experience in coordinating safety initiatives, managing the RIW system, and delivering impactful training programs, you excel in fostering a safe and competent workforce. Your qualifications include a Certificate IV in WHS and/or Training & Assessment (or equivalent), coupled with a strong understanding of national rail safety and work health and safety laws and standards. You are adept at conducting audits, managing compliance systems, and engaging with key stakeholders to drive safety outcomes. As an initiative-taking individual, you thrive in remote working environments, efficiently supporting projects across Australia nationally. Your exceptional communication and organisational skills make you a valuable collaborator and a trusted advisor in safety management. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement safety policies and procedures across civil and rail operations. Ensure compliance with national and state rail safety regulations, including ONRSR requirements. Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and assist with incident investigations. Coordinate civil and rail-specific training programs and competency frameworks for workforce readiness. Manage the RIW / 3D Safety systems, ensuring compliance with all competency and safety requirements. Maintain accurate records of training, certifications, and compliance audits. Provide remote safety and compliance support to projects in other states. Liaise with regulatory bodies and stakeholders to align with industry standards. Prepare and deliver timely reports on safety performance and compliance metrics. Proactively identify and mitigate safety risks, driving continuous improvement initiatives. Mandatory Requirements Cert IV in WHS or equivalent (Essential) Cert IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) or equivalent (Desirable) Rail Category 1 Medical (Essential) Safely Access the Rail Corridor (Essential) Workplace Drug and Alcohol Tester (Essential) Must be available to work major possession weekends (Essential) Must be able to pass regular workplace drug and alcohol testing (Essential) Note: Programmed will cover the cost of Medicals and Training/Upskilling for the successful candidate if there are gaps identified in the above; however, the individual must agree to upskill as required by the business, and some training may be outside of standard business hours and/or in the individual’s own time to achieve qualifications.
