Classroom Teacher & Outreach Manager (D/deaf/Hard of Hearing) Position Number: 0064193Location: ParkvilleRole type: 0.6 FTE Part-time; Fixed-term for 9 months (ending 31st December 2025 with opportunity to be extended)Department: Strategy and Culture; Global, Culture & EngagementSalary: UOM 7 – $106,432 – $115,211 p.a. plus 17% super About the Role The Classroom Teacher & Outreach Manager is a key role within the Learning Experiences Team, championing inclusive STEAM education for Deaf/deaf and hard of hearing students. Funded by the Beth Maclaren Smallwood Foundation, this exciting position collaborates with renowned institutions to develop and deliver engaging, accessible learning programs. Key responsibilities include curriculum-aligned program design, accessibility enhancement, staff training, barrier identification, community building, and contributing to a five-year strategic vision for inclusive learning across multiple venues. Your Responsibilities Include: Developing and delivering high-quality, accessible STEAM learning programs for Deaf/deaf and hard of hearing students. Championing inclusive practices, including co-designing teacher professional development and integrating First Nations perspectives. Ensuring program effectiveness through strategic planning, ongoing evaluation, and adherence to relevant policies and procedures. Who We Are Looking For We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced educator with a minimum of three years' experience working with Deaf/deaf and hard of hearing students. Essential skills include demonstrated expertise in STEAM education and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Desirable attributes include proficiency in Auslan, experience in arts-based learning, and a background in specialist education or museum settings. Minimum Requirements: You may also have: Current VIT Teacher registration with a minimum of three years’ experience working in a school setting with Deaf/deaf and hard of hearing students. Proficiency in Auslan communication skills or willingness to learn. Demonstrated experience in delivering projects that embrace arts/creativity, science, and/or digital technologies. Additional Information This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position; current valid work rights for Australia are required. Join Us!
