We deliver recovery-focused programs to consumers with serious mental illnesses across the Victorian justice system, mental health sector and the community – from early intervention and prevention to inpatient care, rehabilitation, and community transition support. Mobile Forensic Mental Health Service (MobileFMHS) Forensicare runs a Mobile Forensic Mental Health Service (MobileFMHS) which provides care for prisoners who need more intensive levels of service through the increase in availability of mental health professionals. The service works with mental health, health and program services within the Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC) and the broader prison system. About the Role The Clinical Coordinator (CC) will ensure efficient triage assessment and coordination of mental health care of Mobile Forensic Mental Health Service (MobileFMHS) clients within MRC. The CC will liaise with other relevant mental health services during transition of clients to other prisons, provide mental health consultation to relevant stakeholders and provide clinical leadership, supervision and support to MRC based nursing staff. The position is based at the Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC) Ravenhall; however you may be required to work at other sites from time to time. Your primary functions will be: triage all referrals prioritise waitlist accordingly participate in client’s transition and discharge provide clinical leadership to nursing staff develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders Skills and experience Registered Nurse Postgraduate qualification in Psychiatric Nursing or equivalent. At least 5 years of Psychiatric nursing experience Thorough knowledge of current psychiatric nursing practices and legislation Experience in independently triaging referrals Demonstrated ability to undertake assessments of prisoners with mental impairment Plan, implement and evaluate interventions, counselling, and therapeutic programs.
