The Role: The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) - Acute Pain Service uses a multidisciplinary approach to plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate advanced nursing care relating to acute pain management. Duties: Education of staff and patients in pain management, including the development and implementation of up-to-date evidence-based practices. Patient referral review for acute pain, including triaging, investigating, and reviewing patients for plan formulation. Data collection, review analysis, and action of activity and outcomes for benchmarking local and national governing bodies' key performance indicators. Policy and protocol development, implementation, and evaluation in conjunction with a multi-disciplinary team. Management of post-acute pain service including clinical and governance management of current acute pain practices. Management of referrals, providing consultancy advice and support to home teams and nursing staff. Participate in accreditation of the anaesthetic department with ANZCA. Triage of daily patient lists. Discharge planning for all patients’ analgesic requirements. Details of appointment: Permanent full-time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing by a mutually agreed upon date. Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria: Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse. Holds a minimum of 5 years post-registration experience. Minimum 5 years in an advanced practice role. Holds, or is working towards, a qualification relevant to the specialty area.
