Education (Organisation site)South East Region, School and Regional Operations and Performance Division The State Schools Nursing Service provides clinical assistance to build school staff's capacity to safely support students with health needs to attend and participate at school and realise their full potential. The position requires the provision of health assessment, health plan development, relevant training, ongoing supervision and support of school staff. The team/s the clinical nurse works with may consist of the principal, therapists, registered nurses and school staff. The positions are based in the Beenleigh and Logan area although further opportunities may become available across South East Region. About the Role: Clinical Nurses working in State schools play a pivotal role in connecting schools with health specialists to create a safe supportive environment for students with health needs. Using advanced critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills, they provide tailored services to primary, secondary and special schools breaking down barriers to enhance wellbeing and bridging the gap between health care and education. Other responsibilities: Form strategic partnerships with schools, health professionals and families as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Build school staff health support confidence through in-service education and training scenarios. Support capability building, curriculum planning, resource development and school improvement initiatives. Develop evidence informed methodology to effectively implement across Queensland state schools. Develop individual and emergency health plans to support students in education settings. Consult stakeholders to enhance professional decision making and nursing practices. Maintain and build safe, quality, effective nursing professional networks. Form partnerships with other health professionals to improve collaborative practice. Analyse policies, procedures, legislation, codes and standards to continuously improve service delivery. Provide high level consultation and ensure students, parents/carers, and staff are part of the decision making at every stage. Actively participate in professional development and reflective practice across a multi-disciplinary sector that values your contribution. Mandatory requirements: Current registration as a registered general nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
