Clinical Nurse (Wound) - Physiotherapy Department Mackay Hospital and Health Service provides health services in a range of regional, community and rural settings. The Physiotherapy Department at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Clinical Nurse (Wound) to join their team on a permanent basis. Your opportunity The Clinical Nurse coordinates the management of patient/client care and provides advanced level patient-focused evidence-based nursing care and plans. The Clinical Nurse also provides leadership and support to the podiatry department and education to colleagues and students. Wound management encompasses pre- and post-operative care and ongoing support networking for both patients and their families. The Clinical Nurse (Wound) provides inpatient and outpatient wound services to patients referred to the podiatry department, providing a continuum of care through: Patient assessment involving the multi-disciplinary team. Wound assessment and relevant diagnostic evaluation (acute & chronic). Using appropriate dressings and wound care products. Considering multifactorial influences on wound healing. Providing follow-up contact and ongoing support to patient and family. Ability to work within the Multi-Disciplinary Team for wound management including members of the high-risk foot service (Podiatrists, Diabetes nurse educator, Psychologist, Dietician, Endocrinologist, General Surgeon, and Orthopaedic Surgeon). About the Team To provide wound care services as part of a multidisciplinary team to consumers of the Podiatry department, Mackay Base Hospital. The role delivers services based on current best practice guidelines and evidence to consumers with chronic disease and ‘high' risk feet including amputations, foot ulcerations, peripheral neuropathy, peripheral vascular disease, gross foot deformities, and other conditions in conjunction.
