We provide accessible mental health services inclusive of family, friends and support networks. Our service is divided into two streams: 0-11 and 12-26 years, and includes specialist services in the areas of perinatal care, neurodevelopmental presentations, eating disorders and outreach support. What you’ll be doing The position sits in the Neurodevelopmental stream, on the Mental Health & Intellectual Disability Initiative for Youth (MHIDI-Y) Team and provides speech pathology assessment across the age range, clinic wide at the Alfred Infant, Child and Youth Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service. The Speech Pathologist supports the team and others understand how a client’s unique communication needs impact their relationships, behaviour, participation and mental health. Clients may present with Complex Communication Needs, use AAC to varying extents or spoken language. Some clients are unintentional communicators. Communication difficulties may occur in the context of a co-morbid Autism Spectrum Disorder. The Speech Pathologist supports communication access, using a positive behaviour support framework to support mental health assessment and treatment. This position also involves case management on the MHIDI-Y team supporting a case load of clients across their episode of care, including through the MHIDI-Y assessment, providing mental health support through individual work with clients, parents/carers, families and liaising with external care teams. The role also involves consultation/liaison and group work as required. About you Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology (Essential) Eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia (Essential) A sound knowledge of current Speech Pathology practices relevant to the position and its theoretical base Clinical paediatric experience with parents and young children presenting with social, emotional, learning and behavioural problems Commitment to ongoing professional development and student education Benefits Salary Packaging & Novated Leasing through Maxxia.
