Job Description
Role Overview: We are seeking a Cloud Platform Lead to establish and guide a new Platform Engineering team. This role involves developing and refining patterns and practices for CI/CD processes, starting with improving the Infrastructure as Code (IaC) reference implementation of an API and its associated Azure resources. The team will then expand into other areas of CI/CD to enhance security, compliance, cost efficiency, and developer experience.Currently, API teams deploy and manage their cloud infrastructure (primarily PaaS and SaaS on Azure and AWS) using infrastructure as code, including Bicep and Terraform. Your leadership will help streamline these processes, allowing development teams to focus on their code while improving business outcomes. Key Responsibilities: Own and develop the Infrastructure as Code reference implementation, ensuring reliability, security, cost optimization, operational excellence, and performance efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, cybersecurity, operations, and product strategy. Provide early advice and feedback on potential issues and security risks. Introduce and advocate for best practices in DevOps methodologies. Lead the new Platform Engineering team, offering mentorship and guidance to team members. Key Skills & Experience: Proven experience deploying and managing Azure cloud platforms in a leadership, senior DevOps, or platform engineering role. Experience deploying Azure Web Application Firewalls and Virtual Networks at scale is essential. Hands-on expertise with Azure PaaS offerings, including App Service, Azure SQL, Key Vault, Storage Account, Backup Vault, Application Insights, Service Bus, and Azure DNS. AWS experience is desirable but not mandatory. Familiarity with S3, Route 53, CloudFront, and Media Services is a plus. Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code, with expertise in Bicep and Terraform. Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions and Octopus Deploy. Knowledge of application monitoring using Azure App Insights, Azure Monitor, and DataLust's SEQ. Previous experience leading a team or acting as a senior team member.
