Contact: Alex Roberts, Director, Public Law Team0419 832 683 An exciting senior legal opportunity exists for a talented and highly motivated individual to join the Office of the General Counsel as Co-Manager-Public Law Team at the Department of Premier and Cabinet. The Office of the General Counsel navigates legal and policy challenges with technically outstanding legal advice and practical, evidence-based solutions to the Premier, other Ministers supported by DPC (including the Minister for Government Services), the Secretary, DPC and other DPC branches. We provide strategic legal and policy advice and high level legal expertise from the centre of Government. The Co-Manager Public Law Team will lead a team of lawyers providing high profile, legal advice to our Ministers and the Department on public law issues and litigation matters, including administrative and constitutional law. You will deliver sensitive legal advice on public law matters, executive government and parliamentary inquiries and whole of government litigation. We are seeking an experienced, hard-working senior lawyer with strong leadership, technical, policy and conceptual skills, to join a dedicated team of high performing lawyers in the Public Law Team. You must be admitted to practice as an Australian lawyer and eligible to hold a Victorian practising certificate. This is an outstanding senior legal VPSG6 opportunity, to manage and lead a dynamic team of lawyers, together with another co-manager, in this fast-paced environment. About you As our ideal candidate you will have Demonstrated experience in one or more of public and administrative law, constitutional law; litigation; inquiries; executive government and parliamentary processes. Previous experience or demonstrated ability to manage and lead a team to provide technically excellent advice on complex legal issues and foster professional development. Strong planning and organisation skills and the ability to effectively utilise available resources. Highly developed interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, including a demonstrated ability to develop strong, productive partnerships and engage key internal and external stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide legal advice clearly and concisely.
