Commercial Manager - Freight & Third-Party Access Location: 452 Flinders St Position Duration: Permanent Full Time Network Devt, Assets & Maintenance (NDA&M) Job Code: 701519 About the Role The Commercial Manager – Freight & Third-Party Access is responsible for managing all commercial activities related to freight and third-party access. This includes overseeing contracts, agreements, and compliance to ensure smooth operations. Key Accountabilities Include: Assess and manage commercial contracts and agreements. Provide commercial advice and develop procedures for contractual management. Report on business performance and prepare business cases. Resolve commercial disputes and strategic issues. Manage billing and third-party resourcing. Support the development of commercial activities and reporting. Ensure compliance with legislation and internal policies. Provide commercial risk advice and monitor contract performance. Develop and maintain internal procedures for third-party applications. About the Candidate: We are looking for a highly skilled Commercial Manager with a strong background in managing commercial activities within the Rail & Transport sector. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in commercial management, including contract negotiation, compliance, and stakeholder engagement. They should possess strong analytical and reporting skills, with a proven ability to provide sound commercial advice and manage complex commercial arrangements. Experience in both private and public sectors is highly regarded. The Ideal Candidate Will Possess: Extensive commercial experience: Proven track record in a Commercial Manager role at mid/senior management level. Strong reporting skills: Ability to prepare and present detailed business performance reports, business cases, and board papers. Stakeholder engagement: Significant exposure to senior stakeholders, with strong relationship-building and negotiation skills. Analytical skills: Ability to comprehensively analyse commercial data and provide reliable advice. Financial modelling: Demonstrated experience with financial modelling and forecasting. Compliance and risk management: Knowledge of compliance requirements and ability to provide commercial risk advice. Private and public sector experience: Experience in both private and industry sectors is well regarded. Leadership and team management: Ability to lead and manage a team, facilitating change and driving continuous improvement.
