RAC has been a resource, service provider and enabler of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities of the Greater Shepparton region since 1980. RAC is a cooperative working to provide a range of supports and services including: Health and wellbeing Positive aging and disability services Community services Asset and infrastructure services Corporate services RAC has an annual budget of $19 million and a workforce of approximately 230 people. RAC is a significant employer and economic contributor to the region and plays a high profile leadership role as one of the larger Aboriginal organisations in Australia. RAC is committed to ensuring the Aboriginal people in the Goulburn Valley have certainty of access to community-controlled services. Role Purpose: The Community Connector within the Boorai Family Response program at Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-Operative provides tailored, one-on-one support to Aboriginal families referred by Child Protection. Working collaboratively with the Boorai Family Practitioner, the Community Connector facilitates skill development, outreach efforts, and relationship-building to ensure families receive timely and culturally appropriate support. The role is essential in fostering family empowerment and strengthening community connections. Employment Conditions: All staff are required to sign a confidentiality agreement on appointment to the organisation. Probationary / qualifying periods apply to all new positions. All staff are required to adhere to the Code of Conduct of the Co-operative (available to view). All staff are required to follow the policies and procedures to the department and the Co-operative (manuals are available to view). Tenure of positions at Rumbalara will be tied to existing contracted funding arrangements. About You Qualifications and Registrations: • Formal qualifications are not required for this role. A Certificate or Diploma in Community Services from a recognised Tertiary Institution would be highly regarded. Knowledge and skills: • Strong understanding of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, particularly the issues impacting the safety and wellbeing of Aboriginal children and young people, including intergenerational trauma.• Ability to conduct persistent and assertive outreach to engage families and ensure they receive the right support at the right time and place.• Provide consultation and advice to Boorai Family Practitioners and the interdisciplinary team.• Assist families in skill development, focusing on education, training, employment, and overall well-being.• Build and maintain community connections, leveraging existing networks and creating new pathways for family engagement.
