Community Development Officer Are you passionate about empowering communities and creating meaningful change? At Community Services #1 (CS#1), we are dedicated to building stronger, more connected communities. We’re seeking an enthusiastic Community Development Officer to partner with the Suburban Land Agency’s Mingle South program to support community development, capacity building, and the creation of vibrant, liveable spaces in emerging communities within identified areas of the ACT. This position is highly focused on establishing strong relationships and actively engaging in networking and advocacy. There is an emphasis on capitalising on existing community assets to promote initiatives like groups, events, activities, and programs that encourage connection, a sense of belonging, and community empowerment. About the role As our Community Development Officer, you’ll: Engage with the community to identify needs and co-design impactful programs. Lead projects and social support groups. Collaborate with local organisations to create sustainable solutions. Oversee volunteer recruitment, coordination, and support for key programs. What we offer you: 0.8 FTE (30.4 hours per week) plus the opportunity for paid overtime on weekends and evenings as required. Social Community Home Care and Disability Services Award Level 4. Hourly rate – $43.08 – $46.35 commensurate with qualifications and experience, plus 11.5% superannuation. What You’ll Bring: We’re looking for someone who: Has a proven track record in community development and/or understands the concept of Community Development and how to apply it practically. Holds a Diploma of Community Services / Community Development or equivalent relevant experience. Thrives in a collaborative, people-centred environment. Possesses exceptional communication (verbal and written) and problem-solving skills. Brings creativity and enthusiasm to every challenge. Shares our commitment to social justice and equity.
