Southern Adelaide Local Health Network – Flinders Medical Centre – Surgery and Perioperative Medicine Total Indicative Remuneration Package: $254,981 - $335,587 MD02 (pro rata) | Part Time 3.75 Hours p.w. – Until Feb 2026 We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Consultant to join our Gastroenterology and Hepatology Team! The Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology brings together staff from academic and clinical backgrounds in medical, surgical, scientific, nursing and allied health to work towards better patient care through an integrated approach to digestive health. The department provides a focus for education and research activities in digestive health. About the role: Reporting to the Head of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases and Gastroenterology and Hepatology Head of Unit, as the consultant you will have a substantial role in the provision and maintenance of all aspects of Gastrointestinal and Hepatological Diseases and Sciences within the Surgery and Peri Operative Medicine Division at FMC and their regional links, with a focus on IBD. Duties for the role will include: Design, implementation and maintenance of quality assurance and improvement procedures associated with the provision of clinical services in close association with the line manager and considering the related needs of other Units in the Department. Assist with the planning of delivery of high quality GI diagnostic and procedural services throughout the hospital. Ensure provision of quality inpatient and outpatient care for acute and chronic diseases relevant to the Unit's scope of operation. Budget preparation, monitoring and reporting and adherence to resource allocations. About you: Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award. Fellowship of the RACP with advanced training in gastroenterology, or equivalent, ideally with additional IBD experience and research. Conjoint Committee accreditation in upper and lower GI endoscopy. Ability to work independently and exercise a high level of professional judgement and medical competence in a multidisciplinary setting. Experience with the supervision and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff. Comprehensive experience in the field of hepatology. Want To Know More?
