Role length: Part-time, 3 yearsMeetings: Bimonthly, 1-2 hour meetingsLocation: Melbourne CBD, online or another locationSalary: $20,000 - $29,999 About the board The Public Transport Ombudsman Ltd (PTO) is a fair, free and fast service to sort out public transport complaints and help make the public transport system better for everyone. We are inviting applications from people interested in becoming the next Consumer Director of the PTO. The PTO is a not-for-profit organisation that operates independently of public transport operators and Government. The PTO Board appoints the Public Transport Ombudsman. The PTO: Handles unresolved complaints between consumers and members Monitors and acts on systemic issues and improvement opportunities Provides information and assistance to consumers Publishes public interest reports and complaints/issues data. This is a paid, part-time appointment. Consumer Directors are appointed by the Minister for Public and Active Transport. They can be appointed for terms of up to three years and are eligible for re-appointment. Flexible and hybrid working arrangements are available. Who we're looking for The PTO Board is governed by a Board of consumer and industry directors with an independent Chair, who works closely with the Ombudsman. We are seeking applications from people keen to bring passion, skills and experience to improve public transport for everyone. Previous Board experience is not essential. What’s more important is an ability to understand and reflect the views and concerns of passengers and the community. This includes people committed to improving common public transport complaints, systemic issues, and dispute resolution schemes like the PTO. We strongly encourage gender equity and diversity.
