Overview The role We’re looking for a Content Director , based in Sydney or Melbourne, to lead our social media team and develop best-in-class strategies that drive engagement, innovation, and business results for our clients. You will be responsible for ensuring that all social media efforts are seamlessly integrated across our portfolio of media brands, aligning with broader communications strategies. This is an incredible opportunity to partner with iconic brands across diverse categories, including FMCG, luxury home appliances, automotive, finance, telco, and more. This role requires a deep understanding of social media, content marketing, audience behaviour, and performance analytics, combined with strong leadership and client relationship skills. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, clients, and media partners to deliver high-impact, data-driven social media solutions. Key responsibilities Develop and present strategic social media plans that integrate content, organic and paid media, and influencer marketing. Set clear goals, KPIs, and benchmarks to track performance, leveraging both proprietary and third-party data tools to develop insight-driven content strategies. Drive innovation by identifying emerging social trends, formats, and opportunities, and ensure all social efforts are integrated with broader marketing campaigns. Oversee the creation, execution, and optimisation of social media content plans. Lead a team in concepting and developing engaging content, including video, imagery, and copy, ensuring alignment with brand voice, platform best practices, and audience preferences. Monitor and analyse social trends, audience sentiment, and competitor activity to inform content strategies. Set expectations for best-in-class community management, ensuring timely and meaningful engagement with audiences. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing social media team, fostering a collaborative culture and upholding standards of quality, creativity, and efficiency. Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and challenging traditional thinking with forward-thinking solutions. Ensure seamless coordination and communication across internal teams, media partners, creative agencies, and third-party vendors to drive integrated solutions. Represent the agency as a social thought leader, providing insights and presenting successful case studies to internal teams and clients. Maintain strong partnerships with platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, gaining early access to new features and innovations. What type of person will be successful in this role 5 – 6 years’ experience in a similar role, with deep expertise in social media strategy, content marketing, and performance analytics. A proven track record in leading teams, managing campaigns, and driving business results. Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to foster long-term client partnerships. Experience managing cross-functional teams, both for project delivery and career development. A solutions-driven mindset with the ability to think outside the box. Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to juggle multiple projects. High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering top-quality work. Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for presentations and reporting. A natural curiosity and passion for continuous learning and staying ahead of industry trends. A solid understanding of the Australian media landscape and how social integrates within it.
