Location: Fly-In Fly-Out (FIFO) from anywhere in Queensland to MackayRoster: Flexible FIFO roster optionsIndustry: Mining – Control Systems Support & Maintenance About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Control Systems Engineer to join our team in the mining industry on a FIFO basis to Mackay. This role is focused on the support, maintenance, and optimisation of control systems, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of mining operations. You will be responsible for troubleshooting, upgrading, and maintaining PLC, SCADA, and automation systems across multiple sites. Key Responsibilities Provide technical support and preventative maintenance for control and automation systems. Troubleshoot and resolve PLC, SCADA, and network-related issues in mining operations. Conduct routine system inspections, diagnostics, and firmware updates to ensure reliability. Optimize control system performance to improve safety, productivity, and efficiency. Collaborate with site teams to implement system improvements and reduce downtime. Maintain and update technical documentation, schematics, and system backups. Ensure compliance with mining industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies. Participate in shutdowns, system upgrades, and new equipment commissioning as required. Skills & Experience Degree or Trade Qualification in Electrical, Automation, or Control Systems Engineering. Experience in PLC programming and troubleshooting (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, etc.). Hands-on experience with SCADA, HMI, and industrial communication networks (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP). Strong understanding of mining process control systems and site operations. Knowledge of variable speed drives (VSDs), instrumentation, and motor control systems. Ability to diagnose and rectify faults under pressure in remote mining environments. Familiarity with functional safety, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or within a team.
