We now have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Coordinator to join our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Marine Science (ATSIMS) Program . Part time (29hrs), fixed-term until December 2025, with possibility of extension Based at our Bebegu Yumba Townsville campus $85,816.60- $92,948.21 per year (pro rata for part time) plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits This is an identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. ABOUT THE ROLE The Coordinator, ATSIMS leads the operational, administrative, and financial activities of the ATSIMS program, ensuring compliance with JCU policies, project budgets, and timelines while maintaining alignment with the University’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement strategy. This role is pivotal in fostering strong relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies, funding bodies, academics, and JCU staff, to drive the continual improvement of the program. The Coordinator also designs and implements impactful marketing and engagement plans to promote the program and its benefits to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, ensuring stakeholder engagement and participant expectations are achieved to maximize program outcomes. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Degree qualification and experience or a combination of experience and education/training relevant to the role. Demonstrated experience in working effectively and in culturally appropriate contexts with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Significant organisational and time management skills including the ability to prioritise tasks to meet competing project and business requirements. Demonstrated well-developed written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with stakeholders from varying cultures, organisations and backgrounds. Proven experience in administering the financial requirements of a project within a large and complex organisation and the ability to work both as an individual and as a member of a team. Desirable: Previous experience working in the Higher Education sector or other large complex organisations and an understanding of complex policies, procedures and systems. Previous experience working in field-based settings delivering education programs. Previous experience in boating and snorkelling in education settings.
