Job Description

We currently have 2.0 FTE Coordinator Allied Health positions available, for our admitted and non-admitted State Forensic Mental Health Services (SFMHS) streams. What is our Coordinator Allied Health role? These Positions Will: Coordinate and lead the multidisciplinary allied health team for either the admitted or non-admitted SFMHS stream. Facilitate and promote patient safety and quality of care. Provide direct line management and/or professional oversight for allied health staff within SFMHS. The SFMHS provides mental health services for individuals with mental illness associated with high-risk behaviours and who are typically involved in the criminal justice system. Our services are delivered across a variety of settings including 45 inpatient beds, community, prisons, and courts. There has been substantial recent State Government investment in forensic mental health services, including the establishment of new Child and Adolescent services. Funding of over $185 million has been committed for new adult and child and adolescent forensic mental health units, with further announcements expected. Additional services are being implemented in relation to the Criminal Law Mental Impairment (CLMI) reform. The SFMHS is undergoing an exciting period of change and expansion, and the Coordinator Allied Health is a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of contemporary models of care and service streams. You will provide leadership to the allied health team under your supervision, advocate for, and promote the Allied Health role within the multi-disciplinary team, in delivering high quality, innovative forensic mental health care. Demonstrated significant experience, leadership and management skills in a senior allied health management or clinical position. Demonstrated ability to coordinate service delivery in a complex multi-disciplinary environment. Knowledge of contemporary Human Resource Management practices and principles. Knowledge and understanding of continuous quality improvement principles and their practical application. Demonstrated excellent communication and negotiation skills.
