About the Ngaanyatjarra Council Welcome to Ngaanyatjarra Lands, a vibrant tapestry of culture and community nestled within the vast beauty of the Australian desert. Home to approximately 2000 Yarnangu (Ngaanyatjarra people) across 11 unique communities, our council is dedicated to preserving and celebrating our rich heritage spanning over 10,000 years and 250,000 square kilometres. Established in 1981, the Ngaanyatjarra Council Group represents the interests of the Ngaanyatjarra People across the 11 communities in the Central Desert region of Western Australia. The Opportunity: This is an exciting opportunity to join the Ngaanyatjarra Council Group as a Health Information Coordinator to maintain the day-to-day use of the NHS clinical patient information system, Communicare. The role will provide training and support for health staff in the use and management of health information records within Communicare and maintain integrity in the data. The role is also responsible for contributing to improvements in Communicare and to support improved care pathways, data management and reporting. As a Health Information Coordinator, you are responsible for managing the integrity of data, controlling user access, and providing education, training, and support on Communicare and Medicare to staff using the clinical patient information system. You will also offer support to managers using health information systems and will develop, update, and maintain user guides and resources to ensure data accuracy and integrity. You will manage access delegation to clinical staff for the Australian Immunisation Register, assist clinic staff with My Health Record registration processes and consent forms, and ensure timely availability of documents in clinical files. Additionally, you will oversee requests for information, ensuring secure transfers in compliance with Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). There is a requirement to maintain scheduled reports, managing recall processes, and working closely with the Chief Information Manager and Health Information Manager to ensure systems comply with legislation and APPs to protect patient information. You will enhance Communicare items to support clinical pathways, record keeping, and reporting, collaborate with the Quality and Compliance Manager on audits, and regularly monitor and update relevant policies and procedures. About You: As a Health Information Coordinator, you should possess a strong understanding of patient confidentiality and relevant legislation, maintaining high standards for protecting sensitive information. You should have a working knowledge of electronic information management systems, experience with computers, Microsoft Office products, and business-related software programs. Additionally, you should demonstrate experience in providing staff training, mentoring, and support, along with knowledge of medical terminology and experience in administrative roles, particularly in data management, with strong organizational and communication skills. You should be able to work independently without direct supervision and be self-motivated to achieve results. The ability to work effectively within a multicultural and multidisciplinary healthcare team, along with strong communication, conflict resolution, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, is essential. Experience/Knowledge around MBS items and Medicare claiming would be an advantage; however, it is not essential.
