Civic Services is the primary regulatory Department and with over 100 personnel, our purpose is to protect the health, safety, amenity and assets of the City of Boroondara. A little bit about the role A unique opportunity has come about to lead a large and diverse portfolio in Council’s Civic Services department. Reporting to the Manager Civic Services, the Coordinator is primarily a Health professional and is responsible for the successful delivery of the Health Services Team and its environmental health officers performing food inspections, tobacco sales and mosquito trapping program, as well as many other initiatives. Included in the Coordinator remit is our qualified and reputable Prosecutions Team that delivers prosecutorial services for all Civic Services compliance teams as well as across the broader Urban Living directorate. Finally, the Coordinator oversees the Infringement Review Team and its important statutory function and the Infringements Act. A key function of the role will be to step back and take a department-led approach with the Civic Services Leadership team (Coordinators and Manager) to drive efficiencies and outcomes together. The Coordinator is well supported by an experienced, collaborative leadership team who value working together as one and creating a shared direction and pathway. The City of Boroondara is currently undertaking a transformation of its core technology and processes to modernise the way it delivers its services to the community. A little bit about you Extensive relevant experience in a similar role or industry, preferably with a relevant tertiary qualification in a Business and/or Legal discipline. You are passionate about the development of others and have proven success in mentoring large multidisciplinary teams. You have highly developed organisational and time management skills that support you to excel at priority setting for yourself and your teams. You lead by personal example and connect people to an organisation’s vision and purpose. Committed to delivering an outstanding customer experience and streamlining and proactively leading continuous improvements. You possess a high degree of emotional intelligence and are a great communicator who is just as open to hearing bad news as the good news. You’re an expert at getting to know your team to support them, inspire them and bring them together to build a strong bond and develop robust, consistent teamwork practices. The department will be enhanced by your ability to interpret legislation and policies; along with the ability to develop and implement strategic policies and operational plans.
