Based in Herston, Brisbane and working in close collaboration with clinicians and other research institutes, QIMR Berghofer is home to more than 600 scientists, students and non-research staff. About The Engagement and Advancement Department: This position is within the Engagement and Advancement Department (E&A), reporting directly to the Fundraising and Philanthropy Manager. E&A is responsible for generating fundraising revenue to support QIMR Berghofer’s research programs and protecting and strengthening the Institute’s reputation for research excellence. Role Purpose / Responsibilities: Applications are invited for an experienced fundraising professional to lead and manage the corporate and community fundraising portfolio (including workplace giving). The Corporate and Community Fundraising Associate will grow and care for the portfolio of corporate and community supporters, generate new leads, engage and develop strong relationships with corporate organisations and community members, while promoting the benefits of supporting the Institute through partnerships, sponsorships, events and workplace giving opportunities. You will work within the Fundraising and Philanthropy team; a professional busy team responsible for the Institute’s donor development and stewardship. You will have one direct report, the Community Fundraising Officer. The following duties will apply: Develop and implement a corporate partnerships and sponsorship strategy and a community fundraising strategy to generate income from new organisations and community members and established relationships. Grow the corporate and community fundraising portfolios through proactive and innovative approaches to businesses, corporations and community members. Actively pitch to, engage with and manage a portfolio of corporate prospects, through cultivation, solicitation, closing of gifts and stewardship. Create and deliver partnership proposals, sponsorship proposals and event solicitations. Grow workplace giving through external partnerships and internal promotions. Promote engagement with corporate and community supporters through special events, workplace giving and volunteerism. Proactively manage budgets, monitor and report on income generation including donor pipeline, new relationships and the status of existing supporters. Support the Community Fundraising Officer role to ensure the corporate and community fundraising strategy is implemented to accomplish excellence in donor experience while achieving funding goals. Record and monitor corporate and community relationships within the CRM, ensuring information is current and comprehensive. Attend corporate and community functions and events as a representative of QIMR Berghofer and ensure appropriate event attendance of fundraising team members and other QIMR Berghofer staff members (e.g. researchers). About you: To be successful for this role, you should be able to demonstrate success in managing corporate relationships, sponsorships and community fundraising initiatives. You should be an excellent communicator, skilled in developing and presenting partnership pitches and opportunities to corporate prospects. You should also be adept at identifying value aligned organisational and community prospects and determining the best approach for connecting them with QIMR Berghofer. You should have excellent writing skills and professional acumen, and understand the complexities of managing and stewarding donor relationships. Ideally you will possess a record of achieving or exceeding financial and non-financial targets. You should be able to demonstrate strong management skills, including the ability to initiate projects, think strategically, work independently, build consensus among team members, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
