Head of Horticultural ServicesFull-time Temporary Details: Are you passionate about horticulture and heritage gardens? Do you thrive in diverse gardening tasks, from sowing seeds and pruning trees to preparing for public events? If so, we have the perfect role for you! As the Head of Horticultural Services, you will lead the horticultural maintenance of three historic sites: Lanyon Homestead, Calthorpes' House, and Mugga-Mugga. This full-time position (38 hours per week) offers a unique opportunity to work in beautiful, historic settings while making a significant impact on the preservation and enhancement of these gardens. In this role, you will lead a dedicated team of staff and volunteers to achieve exceptional horticultural outcomes. You will develop and manage seasonal garden work programs, ensuring the successful maintenance and enhancement of all three sites. Additionally, you will prepare and execute tree maintenance programs across the historic places, providing expert advice on sustainable horticultural practices and garden conservation. Your responsibilities will also include participating in community programs, such as guided talks, walks, and practical demonstrations. You will maintain detailed records, manage financial performance, and complete necessary administrative tasks. We are looking for someone who loves all aspects of horticulture, from lawn care and pest management to flower cultivation and hedge trimming. Knowledge of garden design periods and heritage garden conservation is essential, along with strong communication skills to interact professionally with stakeholders and the public.
