It will enhance supply chains by providing a transit time of 24 hours or less for freight trains between Melbourne and Brisbane. Inland Rail will connect regional Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland to markets more efficiently, drive substantial cost savings for producers and consumers, and deliver significant economic benefits. About the opportunity As the Cultural Heritage Manager, you will provide expert leadership in the development and implementation of a high-performing Cultural Heritage Program across all phases of the Inland Rail project and program lifecycle. You will ensure the effective management of cultural heritage requirements in alignment with legislative, budgetary, and schedule commitments for the Inland Rail Program. Critical to this role is to lead, inspire, and motivate a team of cultural heritage experts to drive excellence and ensure the successful delivery of heritage management outcomes for the Inland Rail Program. Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Be responsible for the delivery of the cultural heritage program to support the Inland Rail Program and associated Project Teams objectives. The cultural heritage program will include detailed scope, costs, scheduling, contract management, and safety. Manage the assessment and any required mitigation strategies and conservation techniques for a broad range of identified heritage sites associated with Inland Rail's projects. Provide leadership and strategic direction to the Cultural Heritage Team to successfully deliver cultural heritage requirements for the Inland Rail Program and its associated Projects. Manage the integration of Cultural Heritage processes into the Program and Project contracts. The role will support program and project level interface with other project teams, departments and functions to embed the delivery of cultural heritage in accordance with Inland Rail policies and strategies. Report to the Head of ESG on the technical and financial progress issues related to the cultural heritage program to ensure timely and accurate information is provided where necessary. Manage contract resources to ensure that the work is completed in accordance with Inland Rail governance, strategy and procedures. Manage the administration of contracts to ensure prompt assessment of claims and finalisation of contract documentation. Monitor and evaluate the performance of the cultural heritage program by conducting regular reviews of project milestones against actual indicators to resolve issues as they arise to mitigate any impact on delivery. Ongoing audits, monitoring and site checks are to be conducted to support proactive management of the cultural heritage program. About You You will need to be able to inspire and motivate a team while fostering collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders. You will possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, have a strategic mindset, attention to detail, and passion for cultural heritage while striving for excellence. To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate: Tertiary qualifications in related field, Archaeology, Archaeological Science or Anthropology. Experience in the design and delivery of cultural heritage elements for major industry/infrastructure projects in either of Qld, NSW or Victoria in both brownfield and greenfield settings. Experience in managing and supporting a team in complex environmental issues with a high profile in the community, including negotiations with stakeholders on complex cultural heritage matters and policy issues. Previously developed and implemented cultural heritage strategies and initiatives resulting in improved performance. Experience and knowledge of Cultural Heritage management. Excellent understanding of commercial drivers for cultural heritage management. Ability to influence and persuade internal and external stakeholders resulting in improved project outcomes. Proven record of producing quality management reports and delivering high quality presentations to a range of audiences. Project Management skills and ability to manage external consultants. Self-motivated and able to work across community, engineering and environmental disciplines. Driver's Licence - Class C. Postgraduate qualifications in Project Management or related field.
