Position Overview The Manager, Cultural Research is part of the management team within the Heritage, Culture and Language Unit. This Unit consists of four distinct elements: (1) Heritage Operations; (2) Heritage Approvals; (3) Cultural Research; and (4) Community Language Program. The Cultural Research team is responsible for developing research protocols and related implementation plans on behalf of PKKP AC Members. This includes working in partnership with PKKP Members and expert external stakeholders and consultants to build research projects, develop research publications, and conference contents, as well as managing the storage and curation of data and GIS data on behalf of PKKP Members. The team is also responsible for the development and implementation of PKKP AC Cultural Material and Data Repatriation Program. The Manager, Cultural Research reports to the Director, Culture, Heritage and Language Unit, overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Cultural Research team and is primarily responsible for people management, including recruitment, performance management, and strategic leadership. This role also manages all aspects and deliverables of the Cultural Research Team, including the development of a cultural research implementation plan. Key Responsibilities Oversee the development of policies and procedures for research publications and conference presentations. Play an active role in the development of research products. Develop research partnerships with external stakeholders (e.g., universities and museums). Support the Culture, Heritage and Language Unit Directorship to create and maintain a collaborative, high-performance team. Responsible for the oversight of the Cultural Research team’s day-to-day functions. Champion positive relationship building with all members, staff, and stakeholders. Demonstrate a commitment to understanding PKKP Traditional Owners’ culture and heritage. Provide visible safety leadership, modelling positive safety behaviours, strong teamwork, and care for colleagues, community members, and external stakeholders. Minimum Requirements To be eligible for this role, you must have: A tertiary qualification in archaeology, anthropology, or heritage management. A minimum of 5 years' experience in heritage management. Experience in leading a team. Sound knowledge of the Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972 (WA); the Environmental Protection Act 1986; and other relevant legislation. An authentic, professionally mature, positive, and friendly attitude. Strong computer skills including an advanced understanding of the Microsoft Office Applications. Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and influence outcomes. Strong problem-solving and organisational skills. Exceptional communication skills, verbal and written. Previous experience in a similar role with demonstrable outcomes. Desirable: Have a solid GIS and data management background. No Recruitment Agencies please.
