A leading financial services company based in Melbourne is seeking a Cyber Security Lead to drive security strategy, enhance resilience, and ensure best-practice protection of critical assets. The Role Reporting to the Head of Cyber Security & Governance , you’ll be instrumental in strengthening the company’s security posture, managing risk, and driving cyber security initiatives across governance, technical controls, assurance, and incident response. This is a hands-on role that requires an experienced and versatile professional who can balance technical expertise with strategic insight , build strong relationships with stakeholders, and champion a proactive cyber security culture. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement cyber security strategies, policies, and controls aligned with industry best practices. Identify and mitigate security risks, ensuring effective governance, compliance, and technical security controls. Lead the day-to-day operations of security capabilities, including vulnerability management, endpoint protection, access controls, and network security . Respond to and manage cyber security incidents , conducting investigations, post-incident analysis, and continuous improvements. Provide expert guidance to stakeholders, fostering a security-first culture across the business. Oversee third-party security assessments and audits, ensuring vendor compliance. Stay ahead of emerging threats and evolving cyber security standards, ensuring the organisation remains resilient. What You Bring 10+ years in IT , with at least 5 years in cyber security roles within an enterprise environment. Expertise in cloud security (AWS, Microsoft 365, Azure) , endpoint security, and governance frameworks (ISO27001, NIST CSF, Essential 8, VPDSS ). Strong experience in incident response, threat intelligence, and risk assessment . Proven ability to define and implement security policies, standards, and controls . Solid technical knowledge of network architectures, system security, and business continuity planning . Exceptional communication skills – able to translate complex security concepts for non-technical stakeholders. Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, GSEC, GRID ).
