Cyber Security Manager (EL 1) - Cyber Security Section Locations: Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney Ongoing permanent position, full-time or part-time hours; flexible working arrangements The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is looking to fill the role of Cyber Security Manager in the Cyber Security Section of the Security and Information Assurance Branch. The Cyber Security Section is responsible for governance risk and compliance activities as well as looking after the ACSC Essential Eight Maturity Levels. Responsibilities include managing cyber-related incidents and queries, providing advice to staff on cyber matters, supporting the IT Security Advisor role, reviewing and providing cyber security risk assessments, and leading, mentoring, and developing other team staff. The role will require the successful candidate to maintain and continually improve the organisation’s security posture. What we are looking for (selection criteria) As a Cyber Security Manager, you will leverage both your technical and leadership skills to work in partnership with other technical areas and suppliers to build capability and deliver strategic projects in support of ABS business areas and external stakeholders. To be suitable, you should have most or all of the following skills, qualities, and experience: Proven technical leadership, including the ability to mentor staff and manage a small team. Demonstrated experience in solving problems of high technical complexity, with the ability to establish, participate, and maintain relationships with stakeholders and vendors, including escalating and managing the resolution of issues. A proven ability to work with multiple stakeholders and multi-disciplinary teams by fostering positive working relationships using well-developed communication skills. A proven ability to clearly communicate complex concepts to a broad range of stakeholders, both written and oral. Certification in relevant technologies or depth of experience that denotes a degree of expertise. ICT-specific project management and support experience, including preparation of reports, coordinating resources, and maintaining project documentation. Specific to the role of Cyber Security Manager: Knowledge of security standards and frameworks (Protective Security Policy Framework, Information Security Manual, NIST, ISO27001, CIS). Knowledge of cyber security risk identification and mitigation strategies. Knowledge of Amazon Web Services and/or Azure Cloud Services and Technologies. Knowledge of security architecture and the ability to assess and authorise systems throughout their lifecycle. Exposure to a broad range of ICT systems such as desktop, server operating systems, networking equipment, security solutions including cloud-based ICT systems and security services. Well-versed in security risk management, assurance, and system security accreditation activities in Commonwealth Government environments. Capacity to work as an embedded security adviser within major projects and initiatives, to support secure design, security risk management, and accreditation throughout the lifecycle of a project/system.
