Job Description

Our Child Physical Activity, Health and Development team focuses on improving children’s physical activity levels, health and development. We work to uncover the best environments, policies and programs to facilitate physically active lifestyles for lifelong health and wellbeing. The Opportunity In this role, you will support the development of analytic solutions and conduct data and spatial analyses across diverse project datasets. You will play a vital role in ensuring data quality, performing statistical analyses, and interpreting findings that contribute to impactful research. Some of your key responsibilities will include: Conduct data analysis, quality assurance, and manipulation of cohort and statistical datasets. Develop and execute analysis plans in collaboration with research teams. Apply spatial techniques (GIS) for geographic data analysis and visualisation. Prepare summaries of methods and results for research publications. Create and maintain data pipelines and technical documentation. Ensure compliance with data governance policies and industry standards. Based at Perth Children’s Hospital, this is a 0.6 – 1 FTE role for a 2-year duration, with a possibility of an extension. The successful candidate will have the below skills and experience: Postgraduate degree in statistics, mathematics, data science, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Experience working with large datasets in research or data science. Proficiency in programming languages such as SAS, STATA, R, or Python, along with SQL. Knowledge of GIS analysis and spatial data visualisation. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate complex data concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience in academic writing, particularly in methods and results sections.
