Position Summary We are seeking an Ab Initio developer with skills in Unix and SQL as well as knowledge of ETL processes to work for a bank in Melbourne. Mandatory Skills Have solid hands-on experience of data engineering/ETL principles and practices with Unix/Linux, Ab Initio and other data integration tools and frameworks. Are confident demonstrating coding, design, debugging and problem-solving skills. Pride themselves in the ability to mentor and provide technical assistance to team members. Are knowledgeable to apply and promote industry best patterns and practices. Have solid experience in developing and deploying high quality software solutions with comprehensive test coverage without supervision. Are comfortable with estimating development effort for new features. Have the ability to lead Level 3 or above support and technical troubleshooting activity. 6+ years of overall experience with majority experience as Ab Initio Developer. Should have extensive hands-on experience working on latest Ab Initio suite of products viz. GDE, Co>Op, EME, Plans, Control Center. Work experience on version 3+ would be preferred. Hands-on experience in advanced Ab Initio concepts including PDL, Meta Programming etc. Knowledge/Work experience on Express>It BRE, Query>It would be preferred. Extensive experience working with UNIX Shell Scripting. Should have knowledge in Data Warehousing, Unix. Experience working in Agile/Scrum based projects. Ability to work under tight time constraints with changing requirements in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Roles And Responsibilities Develop, test, and deploy ETL solutions using Ab Initio tools such as GDE, Plans, EME, m-hub, and DQE. Collaborate with solution architects to translate high-level designs into detailed technical solutions. Write and optimize SQL queries and Unix shell scripts to support ETL processes. Implement Ab Initio components, including PSETS, PDL programming, and meta-programming. Utilize Ab Initio parallelism techniques for optimized data processing. Assist in migrating and running Ab Initio solutions on cloud platforms such as AWS and containerized environments. Perform unit testing and validate results to ensure quality and compliance with requirements. Prepare and maintain documentation, including ETL design documents, deployment guides, and runbooks. Participate in code and test case reviews to ensure standards and best practices are followed. Identify and address technical issues or risks during the project lifecycle proactively.
