About the Role The Data Officer – Indigenous Research Infrastructure (Intern) supports initiatives to enhance Indigenous research capacity and data governance. Collaborating with key leaders, the role focuses on education, training, and career development for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander researchers, promoting CARE principles in data management. This position builds on a successful internship program and plays a vital role in fostering Indigenous talent within research and related industries. Your responsibilities will include: Provide administrative support for the project management of the Improving Indigenous Research Capabilities. Provide support to the program manager of the Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences and Indigenous Research Data Commons (HASS&I RDC) with activities related to Indigenous data, governance, and other activities. Effectively demonstrate and promote University values including diversity and inclusion and high standards of ethics and integrity. Attending and undertaking training as arranged by the Indigenous Data Network (IDN) or the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC). Who We Are Looking For The successful candidate will possess excellent project management, organisational, and time-management skills, with a strong focus on attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality. They will demonstrate outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, thrive in both independent and collaborative settings, and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and communities. You will also have: Possession of Cert III/IV, Diploma/Advanced Diploma, or bachelor’s degree in any discipline, with preference given to those with Health, Education, Indigenous Studies, or Data Science background. Completion of any other relevant courses that may complement and contribute to the role. Ability to provide diverse administrative support while maintaining confidentiality, exercising sound judgment, and diplomacy. Important Requirements This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
