Job Description

As our Data Scientist (AgTech), you will: Work collaboratively within a team of scientists and technical staff from within the department and with other research organisations, such as universities and private collaborating organisations. Apply statistical and/or artificial intelligence methodologies to solve applied problems arising in agricultural research. Work closely with agricultural engineers, researchers, and domain experts to understand business needs and translate them into data-driven solutions. Develop and implement predictive models using machine learning and artificial intelligence to optimise agricultural processes and outcomes. Analyse complex datasets using a range of statistics software packages such as R and Python. Build algorithms and statistical models to predict critical agricultural metrics. Mandatory qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or higher in Agricultural Science, Data Science, Computer Science or in a field relevant to the position (e.g. bioinformatics, mathematics, statistics, artificial intelligence) from a recognised tertiary institution or equivalent academic qualifications. For international qualifications, the applicant will need their qualification assessed, to determine comparability with the Australian Qualifications Framework.
