Calling all history buffs and handy individuals! The Sydney Heritage Fleet seeks passionate volunteers to join the crew of the steamship John Oxley, a restored heritage vessel. As a Deck Hand / Maintenance Assistant , you’ll play a vital role in preserving maritime history and contributing to the daily operations of this iconic ship. Sponsor: Sydney Heritage Fleet Location: Role: This combined role involves assisting with various tasks on board the John Oxley, including deck operations, maintenance, and visitor support. Requirements: Enthusiasm for maritime history and heritage preservation Basic understanding of safe working practices on board a vessel (training provided) Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and contribute effectively as part of a team Physical fitness to perform tasks that may involve lifting, carrying, and climbing (with support) Reliable and committed to a regular volunteer schedule (flexible scheduling options available) Responsibilities: Deck Operations: Assist with mooring and unmooring the vessel Help maintain the deck area, ensuring cleanliness and safety Assist with passenger boarding and disembarking Maintenance: Assist with minor maintenance tasks under the supervision of experienced crew members (no prior experience necessary) Help keep the vessel clean and tidy Visitor Support: Provide basic information about the John Oxley and its history to visitors (optional) Assist with ensuring a positive and engaging visitor experience (optional) #J-18808-Ljbffr
