They have recently managed a range of projects ($150M-$1.5B) all over Australia, concentrating on D&C, Joint Venture, and Alliance projects in the infrastructure sector. The Role As a result of an increased pipeline of projects, our client is looking for an experienced Deputy General Counsel to join its dynamic and high-performing legal team in Sydney. This is a multidisciplinary role, providing commercially astute legal advice on major project work from end to end, with exposure to project bid and tender activity, project development, procurement and delivery. You will be responsible for drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of construction contracts, including D&C, Construct Only, PPP, JV, and Alliance contracts. This role gives you the chance to run a range of diverse, large scale and complex projects and be involved with the commercial aspects of the business. If you are keen to use your well-honed legal and commercial skills to add value to one of Australia’s leading construction companies, then this could be the role for you. The Candidate The ideal lawyer for this role will have 10+ years of PAE with front-end and delivery experience in a similar in-house role, or at a well-regarded law firm. You will have: Experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of the project, tender and contract documentation. Overseen and managed the project delivery of major construction and infra projects, as well as providing contract, claims and dispute avoidance strategy and legal advice. Strong people and communication skills to develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and provide commercially astute advice. A highly adaptable personality, so you know how to roll with the punches and not sweat the small stuff. The confidence to work autonomously and get your hands dirty working on challenging projects.
