Come and join a passionate, collaborative team driven by success.About the role: As a Deputy News Editor, you will be responsible for supporting the effective management of the Motors Editorial team’s critical News function, which is led by the News Editor. The Editorial team is responsible for the implementation of our Motors content strategy. We drive Editorial excellence across the Motors organisation, to ensure we deliver value to our audience and partners.You will work closely with the wider Motors Editorial team and supporting teams to produce high-quality written, video, and audio content in accordance with Motors Editorial's strategy and journalistic principles. In turn, you will support our mission to help Australian car buyers make the right purchase decisions for themselves with world-class Motors Editorial content. To support our team in making the right decisions at the right time, you will engage in conversations about content, audience, and data.Reporting to our News Editor, your peers will be from the Editorial, Production, and Content Management teams.What you’ll do: Write, produce, edit, and manage written, video, and audio content guided by the News Editor and Managing Editor. Written content which will include News, Reviews, and Advice, and the maintenance of assorted text passages on our website and associated platforms. Ensure your writing is engaging to maximise audience engagement and alignment with Editorial’s ‘voice’ and is SEO-optimised to maximise traffic potential using best practices. Video and audio content which will include presentation and voiceover when needed, to be published on our website and associated platforms. Develop a deep understanding of the Production processes to facilitate seamless transmission from creation to publishing. Conduct vehicle testing and analysis aligned with Motor's Editorial strategy. Represent CarsGuide at media events as advised by the Managing Editor. This may include interstate, international, and overnight travel. Foster well-established external relationships with OEM representatives and other information sources to deliver content aligned with Motor’s Editorial strategy. Engage in Motors Editorial social media channels when needed. Assist the News Editor with the management of News content to ensure alignment with business objectives, from pre- to post-production, ensuring quality standards are met and relevant information is present in all News products. This includes assessing News performance, traffic coverage, revenue, engagement, and traffic acquisition across platforms. Assist the News Editor with the management of internal and external News resources, maintaining a balance of efficiency and quality. Assist the News Editor, Managing Editor, and other Senior Editorial team members with the development and management of Motor's Editorial strategy, based on audience insights, the performance of previous content, and experimentation, while actively mentoring junior team members. What you’ll bring: 3+ years experience in a similar News-focused role or experience in a similar role. SEO-focused writing experience is essential, along with the ability to present. A proven track record of successfully crafting engaging content in a fast-paced environment. Extensive hands-on experience using Word processing platforms and Editorial CMS (Content Management System). A deep understanding and passion for the automotive industry. Exemplary written and verbal communication skills. An organised and diligent approach to managing multiple competing tasks, with high attention to detail.
