Career Opportunities: Design Lead (25222) We currently have an opportunity for an Architect/Design Manager to join the Stockland Design Studio to focus on built form projects within our Land Lease Communities (LLC). The role will be based in Sydney, and is being recruited as a 12 month contract position. The Opportunity - About the Role The Stockland Design Studio is an in-house team of design experts focusing on creating value, delivering ‘a better way to live’ and consistently driving quality, value, and customer centricity to our projects. The Stockland Design Studio works on both Projects and Strategic Initiatives which provide collective benefit and innovation. The team collaborates with external design consultants, provides Design leadership and guidance, drives best practice, and customer/community centricity from acquisition/big picture to finer details. Reporting to the LLC National Sector Design Lead, the purpose of this role is to support and lead projects in a strategic manner to deliver high quality design outcomes that elevate our reputation in Land Lease Communities, in line with Stockland’s strategic vision of creating “a better way to live”. The position requires interaction and collaboration with all members of project delivery teams from development, project management, sustainability, sales and marketing, and research teams. It will involve working on projects, with internal development delivery teams, to assist and guide external design consultants to deliver customer and community led outcomes, creating value, delivering quality and realizing commercial success. Key Responsibilities will Include: Working closely with project teams, through reviews and workshops, at various stages of delivery across Land Lease Communities (LLC) projects nationally to provide specialist design review and advice. Management of internal and external stakeholders to ensure the design intent is maintained and delivered throughout the project stages. Assist LLC Sector Design Lead to manage and guide national LLC design outcomes for consistency and scalability. Undertake project design reviews including assessments of risk, constructability to meet design, value management opportunities and compliance with brief, benchmark specifications and minimum standards. Assist in project visioning and design development for projects. Assist in design consultant selection, briefing and engagement as required. Develop the Design Brief. Engage and assist, when required, with community-based workshops, seminars and meetings. Contribute, expand & evolve components of design guidelines, best practice benchmarks, standards, tools & process for quality control and efficiencies metrics to scale effort and IP. About You 5+ years’ experience, preferably in the design & delivery of residential homes, apartments and mixed-use projects. Tertiary Qualification – Master of Architecture (or equivalent) CAD literacy and presentation skills, ideally Revit. Developer side experience is preferred, but not essential. Highly developed communication skills, able to consult, partner, negotiate, motivate and effect change across a range of complex issues, clearly and succinctly both verbally and in writing. Knowledge and thorough understanding of statutory planning frameworks, regulations and standards, construction and buildability. Knowledge and understanding current best practice sustainability strategies for residential projects. Strong commercial awareness & solid understanding of the development process.
